About
Lilium Acupuncture + Herbs was founded by Heather Castagno, L.Ac, MTOM, Dipl. O.M in 2017. Heather is a California and Nationally (NCCAOM) licensed acupuncturist and clinical herbalist.
She earned her Masters in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Emperor’s College in Santa Monica, CA. She received her BA in Psychology from the University of Kansas. She had the privilege of assisting Dr. Bong Dal Kim, the founder of Emperor’s college in his private practice as an additional apprenticeship. She was an acupuncturist at Providence Hospital Disney Cancer Center in Burbank, CA focusing on the Master Tung modality to address pain. She is also certified in Clean Needle Technique by CCAOM and has completed the Advanced Cosmetic Acupuncture training certification through Shellie Goldstein Acupuncture. She has completed Reiki 1 and 2 along with an integrated reiki training.
Heather believes that health and healing are multi-dimensional and loves the depth of support, be it physical, emotional or spiritual, that traditional Chinese medicine can offer patients. Her clinical areas of focus range from mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, grief and trauma, to women’s health, facial acupuncture, pain and digestive issues. She meets her patients where they are, offering practical and actionable changes to create lasting results.
Her treatment goals are rooted in the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine that she renders accessible and relevant for patients. Her treatment style combines acupuncture, herbal, and diagnostic skills, along with intuitive and energetic assessments, which results in a completely personalized treatment. Complimentary modalities such as cupping, gua sha, or moxibusion can be added to the treatment, based on individual patient needs.
She believes that creating balance in the body helps to create balance in life. It’s the reason she started to explore acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine 12 years ago and the reason why she still continues to share its benefits with patients time and time again
Lilium is a genus of flowering plants, the scientific name for Lily. The lily bulb is also used in Chinese herbology, known as Bai He, to nourish yin. For Heather, Lilium is an homage to her Grandmother Lillian, as she first instilled and nurtured the idea of holistic healing within her.
